Size notes / photo & print

A size is only
part of the picture.

Printed dimensions use millimetres or inches. Digital files use pixels. To estimate pixels, multiply inches by your intended pixels per inch (PPI).

Pixels = millimetres ÷ 25.4 × PPI. Round to whole pixels.

Example print sizeRatioAt 300 PPI
35 × 45 mm7:9413 × 531 px
2 × 2 inches1:1600 × 600 px
4 × 6 inches2:31,200 × 1,800 px
5 × 7 inches5:71,500 × 2,100 px
8 × 10 inches4:52,400 × 3,000 px

Pixel exports do not guarantee a file’s print DPI metadata or document acceptance. Set the print size in your printing software and check the authority’s current photo rules.

For passport, visa or identity photos

Confirm the issuing authority’s required dimensions, head position, background, recentness, file format and file size. This cropper only changes the image frame and output pixels. It does not verify compliance, change a background or certify a photo.

Protect useful resolution

A tight crop keeps fewer source pixels. Smart Cropper does not enlarge that crop automatically. If the requested size is larger than the available source, the export is reduced to avoid adding artificial pixels.
